Horningsea parents have successfully won the appeal to keep the school bus, which has been safely taking children to Fen Ditton Primary School for over 40 years. Although the Local Authority claimed the route was safe for accompanied children, their Risk Assessments were flawed and the appeal panel unanimously agreed that the route was unsafe. They even said they had to run across the A14 slip roads to avoid being run over!
We would like to thank all the village for their support and in particular Peter Davison and the Parish Council for the assistance they gave us. Peter Davison and Nick Clarke were witnesses for us at the appeal and fought our corner succinctly and faultlessly. At times like this it’s so great to see the village pulling together.

The needed work on the Village Playground continues following the ROSPA inspection six weeks ago.
The swings are now back in place, although they are not yet back in commission as the mats still need to be replaced.
May the HRA committee say a massive “thank you” to the time and energy put in both by villagers so far. Whether it be digging, sourcing materials, general help or supplying tea. All was and continues to be essential.
A special thanks to the Mums & Dads of children who use the playground. Many came along last Saturday and made the repositioning of the swings very easy.
Also many thanks to those who not only donated time but materials as well.
Remember if you have children, or even have visitors staying with children, that the Village Playground is there for all to use.

Connecting Cambridgeshire has been launched to provide access to superfast broadband to at least 90% of homes and businesses across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and better broadband connections for all other premises by 2015.
If you are interested in getting better broadband speeds in the village it is important to register your interest by going to:
http://www.
There is no guarantee that Horningsea will get superfast broadband but expressing an interest is important.
If you struggle with filling in the link then please email horningseaweb@btinternet.com so that we can try and arrange to provide some support.
Recently I’ve spent some time trying to improve our home Broadband speed at home with quite a bit of success. I thought that others in Horningsea might also like to benefit from what I learned in the process. Just for information we were on standard BT Broadband with a regular domestic line and package and we were getting 512Kbps initially. This was on the BT ‘Up to 8Mbps’ contract. Not being happy with 512Kbps I upgraded to O2 ‘Up to 20Mbps’. This increased bandwidth to approximately 2.5Mbps. A five time increase. Not bad. Still not satisfied I set out to improve even further. The text below explains how I finally got the bandwidth up to 3.7Mbps. Not bad from a 512Kbps start.
