The Plough and Fleece – community buy-in!

This will be a regular blog to keep you all up to speed with the plans to buy the Plough and Fleece through Horningsea Community Interest Company – our very own social enterprise set up for the very purpose of saving the pub as part of the village plan last year.

Following the three recent opublic meeting, everyone should now be aware that Greene King are happy to deal with us on the basis that we can either raise the asking price by the 3rd September and clinch the deal or take on a temporary lease with them and secure the property as a sitting tenant later in the year when we have the money in the bank for the freehold.

We are being helped in our work by Mike Hellowell representing Cambridge ACRE and Andrew Purdy from the Plunkett Foundation – as well as all of you villagers out there who signed investment and volunteer pledges, offering everything from cash to gardening, plumbing, marketing, admin, decorating and a host of other lovely offers.

We have  very tight schedule to work to and will be sending out a summary copy of the business plan next week by both email and door-to-door mail (thanks to John and Brian) that will tell you everything you need to know about investments and repayment options, shares, activities at the pub, volunteer opportunities…..and how to pay in your hard earned cash to our new bank account.

We are holding open ‘drop-ins’ for anyone that wants to know more on fortnightly thursdays and fridays from 7-8pm, starting last week and continuing on the 26th-27th July and fortnightly thereafter. if you can’t wait til then, feel free to call Tony Phillips on 01223 440819 and he will be happy to chat or introduce you to one of the other Directors who can best answer your query (Rob Balm, Mary Kent, John Rooke or Stuart Gibbs)

all for now…

Tony Phillips and the Directors, Horningsea CIC for the Plough and Fleece.
