Horningsea Herald March 2016

Here’s the
Herald for March 2016..

With the opening of the refurbished Crown and Punchbowl, it is heartening to see that Horningsea is once again a two pub village. With so many villages having their only pub closed, it is a cause for celebration, and with two pubs it’s easy to do so (Horningsea Pub Crawl?)! Our village must keep using both of these fine drinking and eating establishments. Use your local pub or lose it…..!

On a less positive note, once again the introduction of faster broadband to Horningsea has been postponed to June 2016. The full details are included in the Herald, but the representatives of Connecting Cambridgeshire and BT OpenReach will be at the next Parish Council meeting. Hopefully they will be able to explain why every other village around here has a decent internet connection, but Horningsea does not.

A Very Short Nativity: Sunday 13 December at 11am in St Peter’s

A Very Short Nativity:

Children of all ages are invited to come dressed as shepherds, angels or wise men. We need one Mary, one Joseph and one grumpy innkeeper. It will be helpful if parents can sort out which children are playing these three parts – no-one needs to learn any lines!

Jesus’ Christmas Party will be read and the children (and adults) can all take part – stamping their feet, knocking on the door and generally joining in! This will last for about 15 minutes and will be followed by refreshments.

There will be photo-opportunities so bring your camera or phone. Don’t forget that the church is cold so under your dressing up outfit wear something warm!

Horningsea Herald December 2015

Hello Horningsea

Here’s December’s Herald.

It always sounds a little peculiar at the beginning of December, but Happy Christmas to Horningsea!

As usual this is a very busy month with the usual Christmas events.

First we have the Xmas lights being turned on this coming Sunday, followed by a Nativity play and the very popular Candlelit Carol Service in the church.

Have a great month and a great Christmas. See you next year.

Kind regards

The Editorial Team

Help urgently required building the bonfire on Saturday the 31st of October.

Please bring dry wooden items you would like to dispose of between the hours of 10:00 and 16:00.

Even if you do not have anything to burn we really, really need help building the bonfire. The last few years have seen fewer and fewer people come help.
