Help required building the bonfire on Saturday the 1st of November
Please bring dry wooden items you would like to dispose of between the hours of 12:00 and 16:00.
Even if you do not have anything to burn we’d greatly appreciate help building the bonfire. It’s always a struggle to get enough people to come and help.
Please do not bring anything outside these hours. People on the village green will direct you where to dump it. Please do not bring wet or damp garden waste.
Apples and rain….!
The fifth apple pressing day was fairly wet. The downpour started as we started pressing and only relented when we stopped.
Currently there’s about 80 litres bubbling in various airing cupboards in the village.

HRA Apple Pressing day
The fifth annual Apple Pressing day will take place on Saturday the 4th of October at 13:00.
Bring your own apples from the garden, some empty bottles (and just a bit of elbow grease!) and take your self-pressed apple juice home with you. As with last year’s event villagers apples will be placed in a communal pile for pressing. You can press just your own fruit but the previous three events have been very popular and you might have to wait.
On the morning of the Village Apple Pressing day we’ll trawl public apple trees in the village to start the “communal apple bucket”. If you fancy doing some scrumping, whether for the community or for yourself, then meet on the village green at 10:00. We’ll finish at 12:00 with the main event starting at 13:00.
Also this year, instead of an Apple Pie Contest, we’ll be having a “Anything edible with apples” contest. You may win the coveted Wooden Spoon!!
Email hra.events@gmail.com or ring Chris on 07739 578 612 for details.
